The service tool has been changed to add the text INCOMPLETE in the ECM name when the connection is incomplete. The service tool shows a message popup when the ECM is only detected on one link. From these captures Aleksandr figured out the engines and displays were using J1708, an older serial protocol used by industrial engines. Assuming my adapter works is this pretty much the process? Save pcm data using Insite>load flash file in efi live and edit>use Insite to reflash new edited file to pcm? Certain ECMs connect to the service tool over two data links at the same time. Over the course of several months I worked with Yacht Devices’ principal, Aleksandr Gorlach, and an oscilloscope to capture the data on the CAN bus network between the engines and the display. Will the Nexiq adapter work on pickups(I have the Cummins Duetsch adapter)and can I use it to reflash the ecm? I use a Nexiq adapter for using Insite on heavy duty stuff.
